Our HRD-KORE range of fins is broken up into several different distinct design series.
Each series will be detailed separately with the information presented on the available templates, dimensional information, and combinations.
Some of our older series are not displayed here, so if you want an older design, feel free to contact us for availability.
Explore the range through the DETAILS access buttons in the sections below.
NOTE: we are slowly eliminating the HRD-KORE templates in favor of CNC versions. This gives us greater flexibility but, more importantly, better quality and strength.
The primary driving force behind the design of these fins is to deliver a template that behaves more like a wing than your typical "dolphin fin" style surfboard fin. The motivation for this design all started from the design of a tail wing for a foil board.
Like many modern wings, this design features a tip extension to enhance the performance of the fin. This extension is flipped 16º to the outside and has a slight hollow foil on the inside face. The body of the fin also features a strong hollow foil. These fins are very efficient and fast, with a ton of drive. They also have the uncanny ability to help the board move through dead spots on the wave.
Three designs are lumped into this category as they are commonly used together.
The WTF range currently consists of just this single template, but it is something else. Therefore, it is tough to classify this fin as an unusual and unbelievable performer.
Don't let the look of the fin throw you off. A lot is going on with this fin, and it delivers big time. The most concise description for this fin is that it represents a super canard-style fin. The fin is not just a simple vertical fin. Its profile has two distinct breaks: the central blade area flipped out by 7º and the trailing tip extension at 25º. This fin must be seen to believe what is happening with the shape.
It is most commonly used with a more upright back fin, larger than this fin. The WTF serves as the transitional fin in a reverse quad setup where it initiates turns and then transitions the turn onto the back fin. This fin works in an extensive range of conditions and wave heights. It has been tested in everything from 3' to 25' faces and works through the whole range.
The only fin in this series that serves as the front fin for a QUAD setup, typically in combination with the XTC fins, but it could be used with other similar fins. Under certain circumstances, it could be used as a back fin, but that is not the intended usage model for this design.

Given the fact that there is only the single template in this series it is most often used in combination with the XTC fins.
See the XTC combos for uses of this fin design.
The XTC range currently consists of two side fin sizes and one center. The two side fins shown here and the center fin have been the most heavily used and tested. These fins are also commonly used with the WTF.
The primary driving force behind these fins is to deliver a design that behaves more like a wing than your typical "dolphin fin" style surfboard fin.
Due to their upright nature, they turn exceptionally well without losing speed through the turns. The tips play a crucial role in turning as they allow for the fin's transition during a turn. As the board is placed further on its rail, the tip of the fin becomes more vertical in the water, allowing it to create a pivot point. Hard to describe, but something that can be easily felt when using the fins.
Two combinations can be created for thrusters: the XTC-413 / XTC-450C for a smaller, looser setup and the XTC-500 / XTC-450C combo for a lot more drive and hold. Due to the shape of the center fin, it has a lot of hold when positioned further forward while still providing excellent turning ability due to the more upright nature of the body of the fin.
These fins have been ridden in boards ranging from small fishes and kneeboards through guns to tow boards. They have successfully surfed in everything from 3' slop to 40' faces. They work!
Designed primarily as the back fin for an XTC QUAD set, or a front fin in an XTC REVERSE quad, it is also used as a side fin for smaller thrusters setups. It also serves as a side bite in a 2PLUS1 setup.

Given the limited sizes for the fins in this series, the following combinations are possible.
Additional combinations can be created by mixing them with other fins, some of which are also shown here.
In some ways, this is more like a reverse quad or a twinzer because the front fin is smaller than the back fin. This is one fantastic fin combo, as the WTF is the ideal transition fin driving the board through turns and onto the XTC-500, which will power through the rest of a turn.
USES Common QUAD set that is matched and best-ridden with the WTF in the front. Small to large size waves.
Combination of the XTC-500 in the front and the XTC-413 in the back.
USES Standard QUAD set for this series. Small to large waves.
Combination of the XTC-413 in the front and the XTC-500 in the back.
USES Reverse QUAD set for this series. Small to large waves, but better for larger ones with more projection.
Standard thruster combo with the XTC-500 in the front and the XTC-450C as the center fin.
USES Standard XTC thruster setup. Small to head-high waves.
Combination of the XTC-500 in the front and the DS-400 in the back.
USES Alternate QUAD set for this series. Small to large waves, with the DS adding more hold and drive out of turns.
The DS series currently consists of just this single template, it looks like a variant on a hatchet fin, but a lot is going on with this fin that is not apparent when viewing It from the side.
This design delivers a lot of drive and speed from a small package. It is only 4" tall, but due to the raked-back shape, it has a lot of pop-out turns and exceptional holding power.
The unique thing about this design is that the entire upper blade is flipped outboard by 6º, and both the bottom portion of the fin and the upper blade have hollow foils. These features make this fin incredibly fast and effortless through turns.
Flipping the upper portion of the blade will gain a couple of critical performance enhancements. Firstly, it helps the fin transition through a turn making the turns feel more fluid. Secondly, as the board transitions onto the rail, the upper blade becomes more vertical in the water, dramatically enhancing the fin's feel in a turn. Essentially it makes it much easier to push off the fin in a turn. When coupled with the flex in the fin, there is a lot of pop out of turn, such as a small fin.
The speed of this fin comes from the fact that it has a very low wetted surface, so this reduction in drag helps it go through the water a lot faster. Plus, the hollow inside foils also greatly enhance the water flow over the fin, enhancing the speed.
Surprisingly, as small as this fin is, it works incredibly well as the side fin in a thruster setup, primarily due to the shape. This fin rocks in a thruster setup on shortboards when coupled with the XTC-450C center fin. It is also suitable as a side bit in a 2PLUS1 design.
The only fin in this series that serves as the front or back fin for a QUAD setup, typically in combination with the XTC fins. Under certain circumstances, it could be used as a rear fin, but that is not the intended usage model for this design.

There are no specific combos for this template. See the XTC combos to see how they are used with those fins.
These also make great side fins in a 2PLUS1 setup.
The XPD2 series is a highly functional family with different size combinations depending on the conditions and needs.
These fins are ideal for quad setups as they have good turning ability, plenty of drive, and speed. Being an unmatched set, the fins can easily be switched around as conditions warrant. They work equally well as thrusters with the dedicated center fin.
These fins feature our custom hollow foil technology on the inner face, making for a faster and more responsive fin! The unique outline narrows the base for good turning, while the increased tip area provides lots of drive. The tips of the fins also feature increased toe-in to help with turning.
These are our go-to fins for a wide range of boards and conditions. They have been successfully deployed on everything from 6-0 shortboards to 10-5 guns!
This new template is now the smallest fin in this series. Intended for use as the back fin in a QUAD, the front fin in a TWINZER, or as an ideal side bite for a 2PLUS1 setup.

HANALEI FINS cannot guarantee against the breakage of dual tab bases. The DUAL TAB system is designed to break under specific loads or hard impacts.
We try to make the tabs as strong as possible, but there is only so much we can do before we run into the limitations of the base design.
If a DUAL TAB base does break, we will work with the customer to replace the fins at a reduced price, but we cannot outright replace the fins at no charge!
HANALEI FINS cannot sell individual side fins should you lose a side fin, as it means we have to break up a set of fins. So we are left with a fin that we have little chance of selling by itself.
If a fin is lost, we will work with the customer by selling a set of replacement fins at a reduced price. These replacement fins would not be in a bag to keep the cost down!
For anyone interested in our fins featuring FLIP TIPS, please be aware that these fins are sensitive to the amount of toe-in used in the box setup, so it is worth checking with us.
We have encountered several cases where fin boxes set up with excessive toe-in have caused issues with fins featuring FLIP TIPS. We want to ensure there are no problems with our fins. Therefore we are offering to verify that they will work in the setup on any given board before buying any of these fins.
Before you order any of these fins, if you are unsure whether they will work on your board, please CONTACT us so we can ensure they will work for you!
