The A4C series has undergone extensive testing before being put into production. This testing process resulted in many refinements and improvements to the series, easily making them the most versatile fins in our CNC range.
This series also has a wide range of sizes. These sizes cover a broad spectrum of fin combos, from twinzers to thrusters. We'll provide more details on the different possible combinations below.
The design of the A4C is a combination of our original A3 and XPD2 designs. The idea was to combine the best characteristics of the two into a fresh design that would eventually replace these older designs. We added several different sizes to make this series as versatile as possible.
The shape of this series features a strong cutaway at the base and a reverse curve in the upper portion of the tip, adding more tip area. The trailing edge of the fin is shaped like an "S" in profile to better control the water flow off the trailing edge of the fin. This aspect is very similar to the XPD2; all these features have been enhanced. When coupled with the PHAT FOILS, it further enhances the water flow on and off the fin.
The consensus is that these fins are total winners for the general consumer as they are easy to get your head around and don’t have a lot of visually unusual shapes. Of course, once you start looking closer, there is much more going on than your typical dolphin fin, but the more conventional shape makes them much more approachable for the average surfer. This is a good thing in our minds as it will attract more people to try something different, and once they do, they will be blown away.
The versatility of this series has also been enhanced by the addition of the A4C-500CK KAHI center fin, and these center fins are a game-changer in a thruster setup as they allow a thruster to feel and behave a lot more like a quad. They allow speed to be maintained through turns and add looseness without losing holding power!
All of this new series's fins feature our PHAT FOILS and HOLOFOILS and are available with GEARBOX, DUAL TAB, and FUTURES bases.

HANALEI FINS cannot guarantee against the breakage of dual tab bases. The DUAL TAB system is designed to break under specific loads or hard impacts.
We try to make the tabs as strong as possible, but there is only so much we can do before we run into the limitations of the base design.
If a DUAL TAB base does break, we will work with the customer to replace the fins at a reduced price, but we cannot outright replace the fins at no charge!
HANALEI FINS cannot sell individual side fins should you lose a side fin, as it means we have to break up a set of fins. So we are left with a fin that we have little chance of selling by itself.
If a fin is lost, we will work with the customer by selling a set of replacement fins at a reduced price. These replacement fins would not be in a bag to keep the cost down!
For anyone interested in our fins featuring FLIP TIPS, please be aware that these fins are sensitive to the amount of toe-in used in the box setup, so it is worth checking with us.
We have encountered several cases where fin boxes set up with excessive toe-in have caused issues with fins featuring FLIP TIPS. We want to ensure there are no problems with our fins. Therefore we are offering to verify that they will work in the setup on any given board before buying any of these fins.
Before you order any of these fins, if you are unsure whether they will work on your board, please CONTACT us so we can ensure they will work for you!
